Ray on DVD

Just a grand little announcement for you all-- Ray came out today on DVD and as of 36 minutes ago I am the proud owner of it! If you haven't caught on to my great love for Ray Charles, here's another chance. I can't say enough about how wonderful the film is. Like him or not, his story is amazing, Jamie Foxx is brilliant, and the music...well it's genius.

It's on my list for my four-day stay-at-home vacation (that's if I really get Saturday off, if not it's on my list for my thursday-and-friday-off-and-then-Sunday-off-too weekend). I'll be sure and let you know what I thought.

By the way, I love the Wilson quote. It's very . . . Wilsonian for lack of a better word. Another great Wilson quote is "Absolute identity with one's cause is the first and great condition of successful leadership."

Another thing I find in looking through some of his quotes is an indication of how much conservatism has changed since his day. Check this one out, "A conservative is a man who just sits and thinks, mostly sits." Aside from the "no thinking" joke, the implication is that conservatives do nothing. Nowadays the argument is that they go too far or that they do the wrong thing, but nobody could accuse "W" of doing nothing, could they?

I had actually considered that quote by Wilson, but didn't want anyone to assume I was connecting Bush with one issue--Iraq. You certainly couldn't accuse Mr. Bush of doing nothing. I love Wilson!

P.S sorry about your tivo SOTU mishap!
