"I'm not in favor of providing an education for everybody who wants one." --Idaho Legislator Ken Andrus (R-Bannock County)
OMG!! Where did you find that?
Front page of the Idaho State Journal today. He goes on to say: "When they get out of school, they're going to want a job provided for them, too." I can't figure out if it was taken out of context because the lead-in to his statement came after Rep. Boe mentioned creating more need-based scholarships and then there was something about colleges holding tuition steady "instead of targeting aid at a select few."
Even if it was taken out of context, I don't think his views are that far off from this quote.
And to me, his quote really flies in the face of what the Mormon Church teaches about education. And it really goes beyond what the Mormon Church teaches. I'll stop here and post about this on the BYU-I Dem blog soon...
