Vilsack's personal history is incredibly intriguing to me. Like him, I was adopted, and it definitely has had an impact on my world view: I have a very strong "outsider" streak combined with the desire to belong. Vilsack talks a lot about the former; his career choice demonstrates the latter. He also says that being adopted makes him perfectly comfortable with change. After having such a stubborn, change-averse president these past six years, that would be a strong attribute indeed.
Vilsack's record in Iowa is impressive. That said, if we're seeking a candidate with executive experience, Bill Richardson has it, too, plus a wider resume with his tenure at the UN and the Department of Energy.
As I noted in my diary at Kos, we definitely need to keep Vilsack and Richardson on our radar, but I am nowhere near deciding on a candidate for the election 21 months hence!

Tara,
Care to elaborate?
In time, Julie. This is something I have to think out before I can elaborate...
OK, Tara.

Vilsack has left the race. I am sorry, Tara!
